Aromatherapy is the use of volatile liquid plant materials, known as essential oils, and other aromatic compounds from plants for the purpose of affecting a person's mood or health.
The Essential Oils may be extracted form the plant's flowers, fruits or leaves. Our senses respond to the energy of the essence from the oils.
Aromatherapy can be a wonderfully powerful tool to fight the aggression of Depression and Anxiety.
For over 6000 years plant essence has been used to strengthen the pleasures of the soul and reduce a person's negative emotions .
The early Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians all used essential oils for bathing and massage, as well as for fragrance in their homes.
Even in Cleopatra’s time, essential oils were part of the medical apothecary’s tools.
Many years ago, under the guidance of a very reputable Naturopath I had the opportunity to study the properties and benefits of essential oils and their use in Aromatherapy.
As part of my fight against my Depression I revisited Aromatherapy to gain from my earlier leanings.
I now enjoy many evenings with the pleasure of the simple act of lighting a few candles with essential oils blended into the wax, or heating a blend of essential oils on an oil burner to lift my spirits.
I have found another useful strategy to keep the ‘3 Brothers’ Depression, Anxiety and Panic at bay, is to run a long hot bath, add some soul building and spirit strengthening essential oils to the bath salts and turn up the music and soak away the blues.
Massages with essential oils mixed into a quality base oil is another great way to get the best of both worlds by enjoying the pleasures of aromatherapy, with the benefits of stress release from therapeutic touch.

Essential oils can be helpful for pain relief, reducing tension and fatigue, and if used correctly, will in fact, invigorate your entire body and spirit, bringing about a great change in your mood.
I find different blends of oils warmed on an oil burner that I have placed strategically around the house or office can work wonders on my senses. The essence of the oils seem to help reduce my anxiety levels and I find it much easier to concentrate and relax.
Some days I will indulge myself just for the absolute simple pleasure by using a different blend of oils subject to my feelings at the time.
Over the years I have collected a few interesting oil burners from around the country. As a game I have a special recipe, blend, of my essential oils for each burner.
I suggest you select an individual essential oil if you wish to achieve a particular outcome. Each essential oil holds special properties and therefore works on our senses in different ways.
Please never forget to always comply with any warnings associated with each essential oil.
If you have a build up of negative emotions and need to vanquish them you may benefit from either Basil or Clary Sage or maybe Geranium.
I find I always benefit from the freedom and power gained when I remove negative emotions that are drawing on my energies.
Different essential oils have different powers.
For example some sweet oils can move a man out of a room. Some floral fragrances can lure a woman to stay a little longer.
So select your essential oil that suits your desired results.
I will often blend compatible oils for use in a bath or for warming in an oil burner but I do not recommend the practice of using several individual oils in different oil burners at the one time. I feel the benefits of each oil is reduced as their essential fragrances can contradict each other and confuse your senses.
Aromatherapy works best when it works on the mind and body simultaneously.
Aromatherapy in the use of Essential Oils has been practised for centuries and is one of the strongest areas of therapeutic, complementary medicine, it is widely used by Naturopaths in homes, clinics and hospitals for a variety of applications.
For effective therapeutic use it is crucial that only pure essential oils are used. Reconstituted products or chemical copies of natural essences simply do not work.

The rules of good Aromatherapy tell us it is important to use Pure Essential Oils in an aromatic bath, even though they are more expensive than synthetically produced oils, they are less likely to cause adverse reactions.
