Neroli.
Neroli Citrus aurantium is said to be named after Anna Maria de la Tremoille, Princess of Nerola. towards the end of the 17th Century and as such is known as a Nobel Essential Oil.
The Princess first introduced the essence of the oil to her Nobel acquaintances through her use of the essential oil on her gloves and stationary.
It is written that the Princess would also use the oil in her bath water to add the fragrance to her body. The beauty of the Princess and the power of the oil from the Bitter Orange was very quickly the talk of the Nobility.
The blossoms are gathered, usually by hand, as they are very fragile.
Because of the fragile nature of the flower distillation the oil is produced by water distillation.
Neroli has a refreshing and distinctive, spicy aroma with sweet and flowery notes. It is one of the most widely used floral oils in perfumery.
This essential Oil is another of the wonderful citric fragrances.

It is interesting to me that the essential oil wasn’t discovered until the seventeenth century.

With its regulating action on the nervous system it offers comfort, strength and hope for mental and emotional tensions and insomnia.
Even though the power of this oil brings excitement into my senses it has an hypnotic effect which I found quite useful for quietening the various levels of my panic attacks.
The power of Neroli has been reported to successfully treat nervous Depression, Anxiety and Shock (panic); it is relaxing to the body and spirit, and even in my circumstances it brought relief in seemingly hopeless situations.
When the essential oil is used in a diffuser or burner it will enhance the ambiance of the room, bringing an air of tranquillity and relaxation.
Float just a few drops of Neroli essential oilin the bowl of an oil burner with fresh clean spring water. I also recommend you try to use lead free candles whenever you are introducing essential vapours to your senses.
As with ALL essential oils, a caution is advised. Always test a small amount first for sensitivity or allergic reaction. If pregnant or under a doctor's care, consult with your physician.
