Lime.

Lime, from the Citrus aurantifolia is another of the exciting citric essential oils and again a few drops of this powerful 'play' oil mixed through a blend of other suitable essential oils will bring added cheer and laughter to romance.

And who says you can not giggle and have good fun during hot sexual pleasures.

The essential oil can be obtained as either cold pressed or distilled.

Distilled oil is a pale yellow to almost colourless oil with a fresh, sharp, citrus aroma.

Cold pressed oil is a olive-green oil with a sharp, fresh, citrus aroma.

The essential oil may be used in a massage oil, vaporizer or in a bath to help relieve nervous tension, unrest, irritability, restlessness, stress and mild anxiety.

The fresh citrus scent is purifying and enlivens your senses and encourages awareness, clarity of thought and is emotionally invigorating.

The Distilled oil is considered non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitizing.

But he Cold pressed oil should not be used topically in the presence of UV light ie. sun baking, sun beds as it may cause photosensitivity.

Some aromatherapy books also mention the Lime flower and this use to confuse me until I found it is not from the Citrus aurantifolia plant but from the Tilia group.

Tilia cordata andTilia platyphyllos

These are large stately trees with simple, toothed, oval/heart-shaped leaves and flower late, producing fragrant white/yellow flowers.

The benefit of the citrus Lime’s essential oil is invigorating and exciting whereas the Tilia is more commonly used to calm the nerves and relax the body.

In Mexico, the flowers & fruits of the Tilia are often mixed with orange blossoms and fresh fennel to make a herbal tea blend popularly sold in the local markets.

Bees are highly attracted to the extremely fragrant, minute flowers of the Tilia and produce a delicious honey.
